6 main things you should avoid as a novice affiliate marketer

1) Don’t jump straight into the “make money online niche” –

It’s very tempting for a novice affiliate marketer to focus on the lucrative aspect of affiliate marketing but neglecting on the potential long term growth by consolidating your audience base and maintaining a user-friendly site for your new readers

Focus on your first niche that you’re PASSIONATE about, something that you are an EXPERT on.

Only then, you will start making a good quality content and as your site matures, your site would rank better as time passes. So, this would mean more traffic flow and money would then start trickle in.

2) Don’t spend too much time in forums for answers.

Forums are a great place to share/pen your thoughts so as to think more critically and to better understand a particular topic; but it can be a waste of your time if you are too carried away.In other words, you should try to digest the knowledge and put it into action!  I personally have spent hours trawling threads when I just popped in there for a a quick browse.

Good membership forum can be priceless, like the place where I get valuable support and tips from my fellow WA members. However one should also be discerning when it comes to .

3) Don’t believe in/ buy products that “claims unrealistic promises” -

There is no fast/easy way when it comes to making money online, especially affiliate marketing. If you get an email offering the latest push button system that claims that you can be a millionaire if you use their product, chances are you will end up disappointed and frustrated as it’s NOT going to work.

Making money online is hard and arduous. There are a different ways that you can learn,i.e. article marketing, PPC campaigns, video marketing.
Learn one and stick to it until you get it right . Jumping from one technique to another in the early stages will only compromise your initial efforts

4) Don’t worry about design and looks of your site.

When you first started on your niche website, you should focus on the content and not the aesthetics/ looks. How your site looks will not affect the decision/behaviour of your visitor towards your content, it’s rather the content that you need to create in order to suit to their needs/ create a huge impact on them after reading.
I’m not saying that how your site looks isn’t important, but it’s not generally not the main focus.

I had personally owned an Amazon niche website(it looks plain but user-friendly) and I had only generated around 1200 USD commission, not really a lot but I have to say it's the content that matters as consumers would always do their research before buying.

Basically, you have to make sure that the articles you wrote would be useful, informative and address the needs of the visitor so as to facilitate their purchasing decision.

5) Don’t expect too much in the early stages.

If you are expecting your first campaign to rocket you to stardom, be prepared to be let down.

It’s no secret that over 99% of affiliate marketers never make any money, and the 1% that do earn affiliate income will also admit to having campaigns that fail miserably, success is not guaranteed!
I remember reading a post from Carson the founder of the wealthy affiliates who has once wasted$250’000 on a campaign that totally failed. Just think about that for a moment, even a founder can make a costly mistake, so what makes you different from the rest if you had experienced setbacks.

We can all make mistakes!

6) Don’t give up -

Becoming a successful affiliate is going to take time, don keep track on your learning curve. For the first 3 months you may be learning something new almost every day. If you are cognitive and put what you learn into practice, you’ll be changing what you do almost daily. That is when creativity comes in during trial and error.
If it didn’t work for the first time, try  figuring out why i.e. Was it the right niche for you; Did you target the right keywords;Did you give enough quality information, ;Was the competition too fierce? It could be tons of factors that result in your failure , but it is more important to learn the root cause of the problem and to nip it in the bud. Only then, you will learn your lesson and to be creative in your marketing skills during the tough journey.

How Long Until You Make Money?

This must be the most common question for every affiliate marketer. How Long Does It Take To See Success? I'll give you the answer that you don't want to hear: it depends. How long does a new restaurant take to become profitable? How long does it take for a new car dealership to become profitable? How long does it take for a new corner shop to make a profit? The answer is always the same: it depends.  There are simply too many variables to give you the right answer. I don't know your niche and the demand for it. I also don't know your competition and how hard they've been working. I don't know your work ethics. I don't know what exactly you are doing in order to grow your business.  The truth is, a typical brick and mortar (offline) business take 3-5 years to become profitable.  The good news is that success normally happens  faster online.  The second good news is that an offline business will invest $30k-$50k-$100k or more to launch thei
